Optimist sails
The Optimist (“Opti”)is safe and stable for beginners, and allows building core sailing and racing skills.
It is light enough for kids to handle on land and in the water.
The Optimist is one of the most popular youth boats worldwide. Over 150 countries sail Optimists.
Our sail are based on a race proven design adapted to Sailing Clubs and Sailing schools. Check out our site dedicated to sailing clubs and sailing schools.
Our training sail is crosscut , moderately powerful so as not to overwhelm lighter or more timid skippers, but still performs nicely, like the race sails it is derived from.
Optimist sails specifications
Optimist sail:
- Cloth: Dacron 250g/sqm (5.9Oz), upgradable to 300g/sqm (7 Oz)
- The base model has eyelets, sewn in battens, and meets general class specs. We can also deliver mast tube and convex leech versions.
Optimist sail customization:
- For identification purposes, and just fun on the water, we can color one or more panels, add club logos, etc….
