Paper Jet sails
Paper Jet is an award-wining skiff design by Dudley Dix for amateur boat building. The boat is very versatile, with several rig options to allow solo sailing, club style sailing, and performance sailing.
We were approached by the French representative for the plans and kits, (François Marti), we loved the project and decided to create a modern sail plan for the Paper Jet, to complement its wooden mast.
Based on detailed mast flex measurement we designed a full-batten, high aspect, square top main. This modern design offers both high performance in low winds with high leech tension; and a self regulating behavior in higher/ gusty winds, as the leech opens up easily and spills the extra power at will. Laminate cloth, radial construction and four forced battens offer both stability and durability.
This main is complemented by a bi-radial laminate blade style jib. Both sails come in 5 different trim colors, to match your hull paint. We make 2 versions for the main, one for the wooden mast designed by Dudley Dix; and one for the metal mast developed by Bob Turner in the US.
The large , 14 sqm tri-radial Airx cloth asymmetrical spinnaker has a high clew for easy gybing and will give you a ride to remember. Available in 2 different cloths and a variety of colors. Consult us or Francois Marti for ideas about installing a snuffer and retrieval system. You will need a slightly curved up front beam to ensure smooth launching and recovery ….
After 2 rounds of prototyping, we are comfortable that our set of sails provide the ultimate in Paper Jet performance..
