Sails for ILCA 7, 6, and 4 and Laser© Standard, Radial and 4.7
Our training sails for Laser* are direct replacements for the ILCA 7 (standard and bi-radial MKII), IlCA 6 (radial), and ILCA 4 (4.7) sails. They aim at replicating (and not improving…) the performance and feel of class-legal sails, so that they can be used for realistic training – and you can preserve your class legal sail for its best use: official Laser class or ILCA class -sanctioned races.
Our sails are also used for friendly, non-sanctioned races, rental fleets, sailing schools, and of course that older boat back at the cottage that needs a new life…
ILCA 7 – MKII Laser training sail
We are proud of our MKII ILCA 7 Laser training sail!
Thank you Ari Barshi from Carib Wind (Cabarete Laser training center) for testing our MKII ILCA 7 training sail for 4 months in the demanding Cabarete winds and waves!
If you are looking for a MKII practice sail that feels and behaves like the red dot one, this sail is for you.
- We make our ILCA 7 / MKII training sail with a 4.93 oz cloth that is approved by the class for making their official sails, heavier than the 3.8 Oz cloth used for other Laser sails. Its bi-radial cut gives you the same performances and feel as the official sail, but we think it is prettier with its distinctive red corners…
- It comes with 3 sets of tell-tales and can accept the official ILCA 7 battens, or our own.
- Draft stripes are free and optional.
Check out below some pictures and some highlights of the superb finishes our Laser MKII (ILCA 7 compatible) sail offers:
Standard, ILCA 6 – Radial and ILCA 4 – Laser 4.7 Training sails
We also make the 3 other models (Standard, ILCA 6 – Radial, ILCA 4 – 4.7) with the same quality construction. We use a high-end European-made dinghy dacron, weighing 160g/Sqm (3.8 smoz) that gives our sails a long life span.
.
In addition, we offer a variety of options depending on where you buy from.
- A 3 meter tube bag is available and allows you to store your sail rolled
- Our our own iSails battens. that are interchangeable with official battens. Be sure to pick the classic battens (for the STD, ILCA 6 RAD and ILCA 4 4.7 sails) or the MK2 battens for the Mk2 sail
- We also offer color versions (standard and 4.7) reminiscent of the playful Laser© sails of the 70′ and 80’s (but in modern cloth :-);
- Number sets are available in the US and Australia (remember, our sails are not class legal and can not be used in class-sanctionned races).
- In the Euro and US stores, our sails are sold flaked/rolled: we flake them 3 times perpendicular to the mast then roll them to minimize creases and avoid the dreaded handkerchief fold pattern on folded sails…..See pictures here.
Note: We offer fleet and club deals from 5 sails of a kind or more.

Here is a quote from D.K. in Australia:
This is my second iSails, I have used the first 55 times in the 13 months I have owned it and sailed 720km.
Another club member recently purchased a new iSails and I have decided to upgrade to keep the one design training as close as possible.
I am going to give my old iSails to a junior who is keen but using a 25 year old sail. My old sail may be a little stretched but the stitching and sail material is still very good. Thanks for making a good product, its helping us resurrect the many 20 year old Lasers in our area.
